My Family
I have a small family, there are 7 people, namely father, mother, grandmother, 2 younger brothers and 1 younger sister, 1 older sister. My father's job is a farmer, he works on a palm oil plantation, my mother does not have any job but she always cooks for us, washes our dishes but I always help her to do it, and my grandmother she only lives in my house because she doesn't have the energy to work. I myself, the second child of 5 siblings, am now 20 years old and I am still studying at a campus in West Sulawesi, actually I am rarely at home so I can't help my parents to do anything, then my siblings they also go to school in Majene. Usually we always gather in the living room, my father reads a book while my mother and grandmother watch TV, and I usually do my siblings' homework and my sisters scroll through TikTok while lying down. If there is nothing to do, my father and I usually go to the garden to clean it and also look for firewood to boil water while my mother at home is busy cooking food for us. Therefore my grandmother does nothing because she is no longer strong.
my village
I live in a simple village called dakka village, the population in my village is around 1000 more, the villagers are friendly, usually always help people who need help such as building houses, cleaning the year, cleaning the mosque together and other neighbors bring us some food such as yellow rice, various types of cakes and children also help them to do it actually they are very diligent without needing something important for themselves.
Therefore Every morning we always sweep the year, and every afternoon we gather and talk about something and joke and actually there are some neighbors who don't like my family, and I think like that because I always look around me, also I want to tell you that the village head in my village is not honest not only I said that but some people also think he likes it. After that sometimes some of us go to tourist attractions just to turn on the fan or to the beach to swim. We spend time having fun at my neighbor's house then we also cook some food together at one of my neighbor's houses.

my experience
I was studing at university of sulawesi barat , when in the fitrs semester there were several people that came in my class, they socialized about an english course it names was master of english course, that time, it made me to thought about it, did i join or no, i also felt that i did not have an ability to speak english so i invited my classmate to joined in this course, then we joined together and in 1 week there were 3 meetings namely on Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday. We learned from the basics such as alphabet, number, pronouns, grammar or “to be, To do and to have”, we also practiced speaking, and memorized many vocabularies. After learned for 3 months, i could already to spoke english altough not very smooth, so while subjects grammar and speaking classes was starting, i felt easy to did the assignments because i had have the ability when i joined in that course then i got good point from my lecturers. Besides that there was a program in my course that we went to a remote village in tinambung actually it was far from highway. Our journey took a loong time, we passed through a very large garden and there was not a single house also there was a long river, we crossed the river by used bamboo that had been prepared. After arrived, we welcomed by the villagers we only came for a few days , after that they made various food for us and treated us very well, after that we visited the elementary school. There were not many students only about 40 students. where we taught them English and and made games so they didn’t get bored, we divided them into several groups also gave them basic vocabulary then made them compete about English to get prizes, after that we went home.
Besides that i have ever joined in indepentent campus especially in student excanges Bali island, i looked after the registrations first,i took exams, also i asked for approval from head of study program, a few days later i prepared myself because i wanted to go to makassar airport at 09;00 pm , that time i really did it by my own no one helped me , in the airport i met with my friends who also went to Bali so we always together until we arrived, when we have arrived , we greeted by our respective mentors and we devided into several groups and each groups had 1 bus then we continued our journey to the destination campus namely University of Educational Ganehsa, precisely in Buleleng regency, north Bali. Of course I have new friends from Sabang to Merauke. And in there i boarded with my friends who came from Medan, Padang, Malang, and Cirebon they were good, we helped each other, wherever we were always together, although sometimes was annoying, and there I feltculture shocked because it could be said that every week there was a Hindu religious ceremony and every time it was held all the shops are closed so that I was very surprised so i did not know where i should bought something, not only that in every house there where statues, incense and a little food every morning and evening they prayed, even though they were all Muslim minorities but they treated us very well and politely, they didn’t see differences but respected other religions because there were not only Hindus howeverMuslims, Christians, Catholics and other religions, in there was also safe, there was no thieves unlike other cities such as Makassar, Jakarta and so on. after 4 days , we participatedin welcoming student exchange activities from all over Indonesia as well as divided the Nusantara module groups, that time this group was a group division that would visit several historical places every week.
At that time our first activity was to visited a villa which used for yoga, the second was to visit a village which is known as a village where the residents were creative as they made cupboards with bamboo not only that but also plates, baskets, bags, etc. The third we visited a tourist spot called Garuda Wisnu Kencana and that's where we watched dancers and told stories about Vishnu, In that place there were very large stones surrounding the location, the statue was also very large and is known as one of the largest statues in the world, the fourth we went to a fairly famous waterfall and thatn we met with foreigners, we also practiced our English by talking to them, then we visited the cleanest village in the world or usually called Panglipuran village, this village has a lots of visitors because of its cleanliness, beauty and its uniqueness and at the end of our activity before returning to our respective origins, we visited a course owned by our mentor. For several weeks we thaught them about all subjects, both sports and language arts, as well as holded competitions to honed what they had learned from us. After that we prepared our selves because our time for a few months was coming end. before that, all of students exchange participants went to University of Eduacational Ganesha to attended the release of student exchange. where we show our talents such as singing, reading poetry, dancing along with all the students worn their respective traditional clothes, and I saw their clothes very unique we also did a fashion show and gave gifts to each other. exactly at 12 midnightwe gathered in a place because we would travel for 5 hours to the airport and we arrived at 4am we said goodbye to friends from other islands and waited for the start of the flight time. the trip from Bali to Makassar was 2 hours and from Makassar to my house was 7 hours. when I arrived in Makassar I was picked up by a friend and stayed at her house for 2 days then continued the journey to my house without being accompanied by anyone. that was one of my very meaningful experiences.
culture
Every region certainly has a unique culture, in West Sulawesi Mandar culture, which originates from the Mandar people of Indonesia, has a distinctive characteristic that is rich in maritime traditions. As one of the largest tribes in Sulawesi, the Mandar people are known as excellent sailors. This culture is reflected in the tradition of making sandeq boats, traditional sailing boats that are famous for their speed and agility. Sandeq boats are not just a means of transportation, but also a symbol of identity and pride of the Mandar people, often used in sailing competitions that illustrate local wisdom and their love for the sea.
In addition to maritime traditions, Mandar culture is also rich in arts and customs. Traditional music and dance, such as the Pattu'du dance and the kalinda'da rhythm, are a means of artistic expression that is closely related to everyday life. Kalinda'da, for example, is a form of pantun art that is usually performed with traditional music, often used to convey moral messages or social criticism. In terms of religion, the majority of the Mandar people are Muslim, but their religious practices are still influenced by local values that reflect the harmony between tradition and religion.
Mandar culture also stands out in its social life and customary system. The philosophy of “sipamandar” or mutual strengthening is the basis of relationships between people. This principle is reflected in the spirit of mutual cooperation, both in daily activities and traditional events such as weddings and funerals. The richness of Mandar traditions not only shows the beauty of culture, but also strengthens their identity amidst modernization. Efforts to preserve this culture continue to be carried out through education and cultural activities, so that the heritage of our ancestors remains alive in the younger generation.
criminal
At that time, I was in a difficult situation, and the pressures of life made me lose my mind. Seeing a mango tree bearing abundant fruit in one of the villagers' yards, I was tempted to take it without permission. I knew it was wrong, but my mind was only focused on the urgent needs at that time. Carefully, I picked the mangoes, hoping no one would see. When I managed to bring some mangoes, there was a momentary sense of satisfaction, but it was soon followed by a feeling of guilt that began to haunt me.
After the incident, I realized the impact was greater than I had imagined. The owner of the mango tree, who had always been known as a good person in the village, seemed disappointed and angry when he found out that his fruit had been stolen. This incident also became a topic of conversation among the residents, creating suspicion and disrupting the harmony that usually existed in our community. My guilt grew because I realized that this action not only hurt the owner of the tree, but also damaged the sense of mutual trust between residents.
Finally, I decided to admit my mistake and apologized to the owner of the mango tree and the villagers. I returned some of the results I had taken and offered to help them as a form of responsibility. In the deliberation that was held, I was given the opportunity to improve myself without involving the authorities. This experience was a big lesson for me not to repeat it again and to respect other people's property rights more. I am committed to living a more honest life and contributing to society in order to atone for past mistakes.
